Better Balance

Better Balance is an evidence-based falls prevention initiative designed to help Newham residents aged 50+ improve their strength, balance and confidence, and reduce their risk of falls. 

Better Balance aims to:

  • Reduce the risk and fear of falling for Newham residents aged 50+
  • Improve independence and quality of life
  • Lower falls-related hospital admissions
  • Provide social support to reduce isolation

It is free for eligible residents and involves weekly, in-person classes led by qualified instructors. The sessions take place in two community venues:

  • African Caribbean Resource Centre: 627 Barking Road, Plaistow, E13 9EZ
  • SubCo Trust: 107-109 The Grove, Stratford, E15 1HP
