Newham Health Equity Programme

The Newham Health Equity Programme is releasing a toolkit that services can use to make small improvements that achieve maximum impact. The toolkit also helps colleagues to increase the impact of their services, by taking a deeper look at how much more equitable it could become.
The tools are a series of quantitative and qualitative aides that help embed equity into the work we do. Not only is there a moral case for their use, but they also can improve your productivity, increase your impact, and make your services more widely applicable to our residents. Our tools come with case studies to see how other colleagues have already successfully implemented them.
The tools include:
The ART framework is an evidence based mode of analysis that helps providers take responsibility for providing an equitable service. It recognises three key barriers to access: Accessibility, Relevance, and Trustworthiness, and centres these in the analysis.
The Does it Look Like Newham tool is an easy to use and interactive interface. Once you have data about who has been using your service, it is a fast and effective way to see how this compares to the wider population. This can tell you how universal your service is and which groups may be experiencing barriers to access.
The Health Equity route map provides organisations with a high level walk through of practical steps for services, departments, and teams to reduce health inequalities at all organisational levels. The map helps to answer two key questions on a system level: ‘How do we get to Good on Health Equity’ and ‘Are we there yet?’
