Staying well during winter: COVID-19 vaccine

The COVID-19 vaccine is the best way to protect yourself against serious illness and hospitalisation from COVID. People at higher risk of becoming very unwell from COVID, such as older people or people with certain health conditions, may be offered another dose of the COVID vaccination. The COVID-19 vaccines are offered because viruses change and protection fades over time. It’s important to top up your protection if you’re eligible.
You can get the winter COVID-19 vaccine if you:
- are aged 75 or over (including those who will be 75 by 31 January 2026)
- are aged 6 months to 74 years and have a weakened immune system because of a health condition or treatment
- live in a care home for older adults
If you’re eligible for the winter COVID-19 vaccine, you can:
- book a COVID-19 vaccination appointment online or in the NHS App (if you’re aged 5 years or over)
- find a walk-in COVID-19 vaccination site to get vaccinated without an appointment (if you’re aged 5 years or over)
