New Wheeled Sports Facility at King George V Park

The Council and Betong Park have delivered a truly unique and exciting space for residents to engage and participate in wheeled sports, such as skateboarding, roller skating and skooting. It is now open for activity!

The new facility has already received an overwhelmingly positive response from both the local skate community and visitors from across London and beyond. The quality of the finished park has attracted interest from professional skaters, many of whom have shared and promoted the facility through their social media channels, helping to raise the profile of Newham as a destination for urban sports.

To promote and raise awareness of the new facility and encourage participation, a programme of free summer activities has been commissioned for children and young people throughout August. The sessions are designed to introduce participants to a range of wheeled sports in a supportive and enjoyable environment, while helping local families make use of the new facility.

Sessions include beginner scooter coaching, skateboard coaching, roller skating and dedicated opportunities for younger children and girls to participate. The space has been built for everyone, from complete beginners to experienced riders.
